Monte Sano Civic Association

Board Meeting, 17 October 2011

The Monte Sano Civic Association meeting was called to order by President MaryLynn Perry. Also present were Kyle Siegrist, Bob Crook, Earle Self, Liz Thornton, Gene Ezell, and Nancy Robertson. Minutes were distributed and approved without changes. Concern was expressed for Jan, with hopes she is doing well.

The schedule for the October 18 Potluck Meeting was reviewed. Board members were encouraged to bring a meat item for the potluck. Tea and coffee will be provided, as will plates, flatware, etc. A membership table will be set up to accept dues payments and ballots. The announcement will be made at the meeting to take the Save Monte Sano's School signs down, as it is said to be impacting property values. Earle volunteered to introduce the first speaker, Mayor Tommy Battle.

Many complements went to Kyle due to the recent newsletter. One more id needed prior to the December 18 holiday party. Articles for this one are due to Kyle by November 23.

Liz Thornton put together and delivered four welcome bags for new residents since the last meeting.

Bob Crook gave the Treasurer's report. There is $3754.99 in the MSCA treasury. $1250 was brought in this year through dues, donations, and special events, while $2672 was spent, mostly on the directory. The report is on file, to be given to Jan.

There was general discussion of spraying herbicide under the power lines and along roadways (City of Huntsville). The proliferation of deer and other wildlife was also discussed. The date for the Adopt A Mile cleanup was set for Saturday, October 29.

Meeting adjourned at 8:45.
